On August 9, 1999, His Majesty the King graciously bestowed the name “The M.R.T. Chaloem Ratchamongkhon” which means “Celebration of the Auspicious Kingship” on the Metro Project, Hua Lamphong – Bang Sue Route, that has 18 stations along the over 20 kilometers distance.>
The M.R.T. Chaloem Ratchamongkhon is the first railway system in Thailand that kept on underground level.
